One of the most preferred locations of the tourists near Samsing is Suntaleykhola (Suntaley means oranges and Khola means stream), located at a distance of 5 km. from the destination. The Neora Valley National Park lies in close proximity to this place.

Next to Suntaleykhola, most tourists you can visit the serene village of Faribasti. From the top of Faribasti, you can enjoy the panoramic view of the entire Dooars region. The village with around 30 households is very well-maintained and clean.

Another popular tourist spot is the ‘Rocky Island,’ cradled on the bank of River Murti. This charming location is about 2 km from Samsing. The RockyIsland is completely downhill, where you can take the pleasure of the stunning view of the MurtiRiver. The terraced fields on the either side of the river will make you spellbound. You can continue your journey further downhill, where the vegetation will gradually change to thick bamboo groves. Cross the Murti River to explore the quaint villages of ‘Tinkatari’, ‘Bhalukhop’, located within few kilometer.

Bathing in the river is also a favourite activity of the tourists. You can also organize picnic on the riverbank of Murti. Moreover, a number of trek routes also originate from Suntaleykhola, which is another village near Samsing. Tourists nurturing an interest in trekking can opt for a steep ride to ‘Tree Fern Point’ and ‘Mo’ or ‘Mo Chaki’ for savoring the spectacular view of the Himalayas in one side and the lush green Dooars plain on the other.

The most exciting trek leads to the unexplored wilderness of Neora Valley National Park. However, prior permission is required to organize this trek. Again, Samsing is a great place for the avid bird watchers. The sound of the sweet chirping of the colorful birds in this scenic picturesque landscape is truly refreshing. Some of the most notable species of birds are Grey Nightjar, Orange-bellied Leafbird, Maroon Oriole, Greychinned and Short-billed Minivets, Greater Racket-tailed Drongo, Slaty-backed Forktail, Sultan Tit, Ashy Bulbul, Yellow-vented, Golden-spectacled and Chestnut crowned Warblers and black-chinned Yuhinas. The forest trails of Samsing are also great for enjoying a nature walk.

How to go ?

Samsing is located at a distance of 82 km. from Siliguri and it takes around 3 hours to reach from Siliguri. The journey to Samsing is truly admirable, as you gradually drive uphill through the scenic Dooars tea garden on the rolling hilly slopes. However, it is better for tourists from Kolkata to get down at New Mall Junction which is only 19 kms from Samsing. Cars can be hired from New Mall Junction for Samsing.

Where to stay ?

SamsingSamsing has very limited accommodation. Other than Government owned Forest Department cottages there is only one private deluxe accommodation in Samsing named Tempula Inn. To book the Government owned cottages you may contact:
