Dehradun is the capital city of the state of Uttarakhand. Nestled in the mountain ranges of the Himalaya, at a height of 960 m. above the sea level, Dehradun is one of the oldest cities of India. Malsi Deer Park

It is a zoological park at the base of the Shivalik Range in Dehradun. Malsi Deer Park is well maintained and it is home of two horned deer, Tiger, Neelgai, Peacock and many other animals. It is an ideal spot for picnicking.

Assan Barrage

The wetland at Assan Barrage, is situated near the confluence of two perennial rivers Asan and Yamuna near Dehradun. The lake attracts a large number of waterfowl, both waders and divers. This is an ideal place for bird lovers, Ornithologists and Naturalists alike, who can travel easily up to the Assan barrage, and see thousands of birds who have travelled miles to be there.

Robber’s Cave

It is the most popular tourist place of Dehradun. Also known as Guchhipani, Robber’s Cave is an ideal destination to spend the holiday in an immaculate atmosphere. It is bounded by imposing hills showcasing an amazing scenario of nature’s beauty. An easy trek of 1km will lead you to the refreshing stream of Robber’s Cave.

Sahastradhara

The name ‘Sahastradhara’ means the site of ‘thousand springs’. Situated near Rajpur Village, approximately 16 km from the major township of Dehradun, it is a very popular picnic spot. The place becomes more attractive during rainy season, when there is abundance of water in the springs. The water of sulphur spring is assumed to have some medicinal properties that can help cure skin ailments.

Tiger Falls

One of highest waterfall in Uttarakhand, Tiger Falls is located at 5 km from Chakrata. Tiger Falls has an elevation of 312 ft and an uncrowed place.

Fun Valley

It is a newly developed amusement park for the people of Dehradun, Haridwar and Rishikesh. Fun Valley is located at 28 km from Dehradun and equi-distance form Haridwar Rishikesh.

Jwalaji Temple

This place is also known as Benog Hill. There is Jawalaji Temple here with Durga Devi as its deity. Benog hill is set at an altitude of 2104mts above sea level and is 9 km west of Mussoorie. It is situated on the top of the Benog Hill and looks like the crown of the hill. Surrounded by thick forest Benog Hill affords marvelous views of Yamuna Valley and Doon Valley.

Santala Devi Temple

The temple of Santala Devi is located approximately 16 km away from Dehradun, in Santur Garh. It is most crowded on Saturdays, as it is regarded to be the day of Goddess Santala Devi and Her brother.

Bhadraj Temple

There is a temple dedicated to the brother of Lord Krishna, Lord Balbhadra. Enchanting view of the Doon Valley and Chakrata ranges are captivating from this place. Bhadraj Temple is situated 15km from Dehradun.

Tapkeshwar Temple

Tapkeshwar temple is an ancient temple of Lord Shiva, situated approximately 8 km from Dehradun, on the banks of a stream, in Garhi Cant. This place holds a lot of reverence amongst the devotees of Lord Shiva.

Ram Rai Darbar

Built by Guru Har Rai’s son, it attracts many Sikh pilgrims from the nearby state of Punjab. Admission is free and non-Sikhs are welcome.

Sai Darbar Temple

Laxman Sidh Temple

A cremation site of holy saint, Laxman Sidh temple is located at Haridwar road at 12 km from Dehradun.

The Char Siddhs

Comprises of a group of four temples around Dehradun : Lakshman Siddh (along the Dehradun-Rishikesh road 12 km from Dehradun), Kalu Siddh (near Baniyawala), Manak Siddh (near Shimla Bypass Road) and Madu Siddh (near Premnagar). Chamba

Chamba is one of the best excursion of Dehradun as the place offers panoramic views of the majestic Himalayan range and the sacred view of the Bhagirathi River. Chamba is situated 85kms from Dehradun at an altitude of 1676mts above sea level. Chamba is unlike Mussoorie as the place provides peace and tranquility. Kanatal

Kanatal is situated 68kms from Dehradun on Mussoorie-Chamba Road in the Tehri District of Garhwal region of Uttarakhand state. Neelkanth Mahadev

Thousands of devotees visit Neelkanth Mahadev every month throughout the year. It is situated on the summit of the mountain across the sacred Ganga River. According to mythology this is the place where Lord Shiva drank the venom produced during ‘Sagar Manthan’ which turned his throat blue and was thus the place was named as Neelkanth. Neelkanth and Mahadev are names of Lord Shiva. It is situated 66kms from Dehradun city.
